Marat Paransky Artist’s Statement

In my art I explore the relationships between humans and nature. I analyze the way in which psychology and social conditions inform peoples’ view of their positions regarding other species and humans.

I emphasize the need for a critical outlook in art and life. My images tend to be elongated horizontally to undermine hierarchies, to step away from the more traditional, more square-like rectangular canvas, and to offer a more natural way of visualizing the world. The viewer is encouraged to question the image, and by extension, their lifestyle choices.

"My fascination is with dramatic action of line and color, either in the handling of subject or the abstract. I like to make images and creations as if born from a dream. The dream's logic growing from the use of the familiar and the non-familiar. An atmospheric mesh."
