This
Thursday's View Artist @ 555 is Christian McKenzie
with Movies in 555's Red Room
Thursday's
View is from 7 to 10pm Thursday December 11, 2008
As
a young artist, Christian McKenzie is always looking
to create original and bold pieces. He has always
let his pens guide him and his art speak for him;
his work encompassing many styles and mediums.
He is a firm believer that one picture can say
more than any phrase. He does not believe in constricting
himself by allowing all of his artwork to have
the same look or feel, instead he challenges himself
to create something new to himself in a way that
may not be familiar to him.
As
a child he preoccupied himself with pencils and
crayons, he started to truly develop his art at
the age of twelve when he started focusing more
on the intricacies of his skill. At fourteen he
won Grand prize in Road & Track magazines
annual kids automotive design contest. At
sixteen taking ceramics he caught the attention
of the art department at Henry Ford Community
College who gave him a grant to attend that years
national ceramics convention NCECA in Indianapolis.
He continues to grow in his art developing into
as many different styles, aspects, and mediums
as he can think to utilize. Touching on subject
matter from humorous and amusing, beautiful and
sensual, to the morbidly intriguing and macabre.
He is truly a versatile talent.
Most
recent shows include That Damned Show :
a macabre fine art exhibition, Motor
city Art Expo, and The Peoples
Art Festival
