New Works by Matt Lewis

An active member of the Detroit art scene, Matt Lewis’s most recent work takes on "a feeling of drama and personal experiences played out as archetypes based partly on the unconscious. His vibrant, unplanned paintings have become a meditation, a reflection, a conversation, and a record. His works can be considered as an attempt at communication with something that is contained within us and at the same time, outside of us.

While not in his Saginaw based studio, Matt Lewis, with a BFA from The College for Creative Studies, School of Art and Design (CCS-CAD), with a concentration on painting and drawing, is teaching Art Education at the Pontiac Academy for Excellence. Lewis has shown his work all over the Metro Detroit area, last showing at the Synergy Gallery. Lewis’ work has been purchased by many private collections as well as the College for Creative Studies. He has been featured in Art in America ’s Annual Guide.
