Ten
years
ago,
Darcel
decided
to
make
a
lifestyle
change
after
a
tragic
and
life
altering
experience.
Loss
and
grief
brought
into
clear
focus
that
art
was
an
important
part
of
her
life.
Returning
to
CCS,
she
completed
her
BFA
in
2002
and
has
continued
to
paint
ever
since.
Reflected
by
her
aggressively
painted
landscapes
bearing
familiar
buildings
and
Detroits
signature
grey
skies,
is
great
optimism
and
passion
for
the
resurgence
of
a
city
which
holds
many
treasured
childhood
memories.
Darcel
has
steadily
exhibited
her
work
throughout
the
Metropolitan
Detroit
area
and
was
commissioned
to
do
the
2007
poster
artwork
for
the
28th
Detroit
International
Jazz
Festival.
