Robert Schefman
Politics and Religion

An exhibition of recent works on canvas and on paper by Robert Schefman: Heralds of insightful, satirical and often humorous commentaries on the human condition, Robert Schefman's seductive narrative paintings are enhanced by the artist's unsurpassed technical expertise with anatomy, color and spatial form. His manner of realist illusion exploits what he calls the unchanging reality of sight. These are images an audience can relate to through a shared consciousness for the essential human values at their core. A fitting crescendo to our fall series, this visual rapture is not to be missed

The Robert Kidd Gallery, located in downtown Birmingham, was founded 30 years ago by Robert Louis Kidd and Ray Frost Fleming. Graduates of The Cranbrook Academy of Art, Kidd and Fleming exhibit the work of promising young artists in a serious and professional environment. The gallery roster is further distinguished by such prominent artists as Milton Avery, Harry Bertoia, Larry Rivers and Marshall Fredericks. In addition, the gallery represents estates and private collections for the acquisitioning and de-accessioning of art work by significant modern and contemporary artists such as Hans Hofmann, Alexander Calder, Franz Kline, and Richard Diebenkorn. Comprising an impressive 5,000 square feet of exhibition space, the two level gallery is a member of The Detroit Art Dealers Association and is currently a direct representative for the estates of Milton Avery, Hans Hofmann, and Marshall Fredericks.
