"Art
of Nature"
The
Scarab club is pleased to host
Art of Nature, an exhibition
of work by Andrzej Sikora
and Todd Erickson. The work
exhibited is part of a large
group of paintings by Sikora
entitled "Four Seasons."
Twelve 9' x 6' painted canvases
comprise the collection. Sikora's
work provides a backdrop and
counterpoint to Todd Erickson's
delicate, small-scale sculptural
and relief work.
Sikora's
abstract-lyric style of painting
is unique to the artist. The
titles accompanying the paintings
assist the viewer in understanding
the artist's focus, each providing
a simple first step for interpreting
the artistic content. The abstract
expression resembles a natural
form that is manifested in specific
color families. The relation
of colors culminate in the mood
of the painting, yet each abstract
expression also contains a "realistic"
element intended to trigger
the viewer's own recollection
of a memory, an image, an experience,
or feeling.
The
paintings are depictions that
come from an abstract trend
in art and metaphorical painting.
It is the artist's intent that
the paintings guide the viewer
to an introspective focus. They
trigger the viewer's memory
of nature, drawing the viewer
to the subject; the lyrical
form provides the viewer the
opportunity to contemplate a
balance and a rhythm of nature
within the perview of their
own recollection. If the art
work assists the viewer to recall
the harmony of this moment,
when the impact of nature inspires
mood and spirit, they will have
discovered the "Art of
Nature."
