DESCRIPTION:
A dual exhibit celebrating Michigan Glass Month. The exhibit
will explore the fluidity of glass and water by highlighting
the work of nationally known glass artist John Steiner
and established watercolorist Mary Quintal. Steiner,
a former CCS faculty member, has gained a national reputation
from his work in blown glass. For many years his unique
glass pieces have been exhibited in shows and featured
at numerous galleries throughout the United States. Quintal's
paintings have been a familiar sight around southeastern
Michigan art fairs and galleries for the last 20 years.
A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Art
and Wayne State University, Quintal has expanded her skills
with such instructors as Charles Reid, Gerald Brommer,
and Stephen Quiller, an experience that has changed her
approach to painting altogether.
