The Beyond Words Gallery , Marygrove College

An anti war collection of very dark and fantastic works by David Becker , Sergio  De Giusti , Misha Gordin , Scott Hocking and Carole Kabrin. Artist Sergio De Giusti was invited by James Lutomski , Chair of the Art Department at Marygrove College to curate the show.

The most powerful religious-inspired art has always shown the sacred and the  profane.  The two are linked in great frescoes and altarpieces.  Paradise and hell must be represented in order for the penitent to wisely choose.  The darkness of  hell is always present in order for us to be moral and be eventually saved.  Great  art will save us.  As an Italian having seen a history of great art in churches, I will always be inspired by the allegory of life, death and salvation.  Reliquaries hold body parts in various stages of martyrdom and we pray to them.  What is so strange about this iconography?  This is why I admire and choose to live with this type of art.

Apocalypse Re-collected includes my work and the works of David Becker and Misha  Gordin which are a part of my private collection.  The timeless works of David Becker and  Misha Gordin that hang in my home should be shared with a new generation of students and lovers of spiritual art.  The two other artists I selected are Scott Hocking and Carole Kabrin .”  - Sergio De Giusti
