Friday Night Live! at the DIA featuring Boxdeserter Trio

Bay area pianist Thollem McDonas, Detroit’s Skeeter Shelton on saxophone, and bassist/multi-instrumentalist Joel Peterson are musicians of disparate generations and locales who have an affinity for making innovative and challenging music, from melodic modernism, classical economy, and elemental Free Jazz.

 

Drop-In Workshop: DIA Evening Post
6–9 p.m
(12 and under must be with an adult)

Who’s your family? Images of families from Norman Rockwell’s paintings were dipicted on many covers of the Saturday Evening Post. What does family mean to you? Think about this as you create your own magazine cover. Your artwork will hang in our community arts gallery for the duration of the exhibition. Program in conjunction with special exhibition American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell.

Drawing in the Galleries for Youth
6–9 p.m.
(Ages 6–14, children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult)

Artist/instructors help participants create pencil drawings to take home. No experience necessary; materials provided.
