Scavenger Hunt, Open House, Walking Tours, Bar Tour

Inside Detroit wants people to (Re)Discover Detroit this weekend which is the reason they are hosting a scavenger hunt, two walking tours, one bar tour and an open house. It will be three fun-filled days and night of activities for residents from across the region to enjoy.

Inside Detroit will kick-off (Re)Discover Detroit Weekend with a free open house at the Welcome Center located at 1253 Woodward Avenue on Friday, May 1 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

“Our purpose for the open house is to bring together people who are interested in (Re)Discovering Detroit over the next several months,” said Jeanette Pierce of Inside Detroit. “It will be a chance for people to check out our new retail partner, The Local 1253, and gather information about the latest news and events scheduled to take place in the city this summer.”

Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served at the open house. Guests must RSVP to attend on their website at http://www.insidedetroit.org/public-tours.

Inside Detroit has scheduled the following events for Saturday, May 2
Downtown Highlights Walking Tour / 1p.m. – 3p.m. / $10
Inside Detroit guides will lead individuals on a two-hour eye-opening walking tour where participants to see and learn in-depth details about the city’s major architectural and historical landmarks, local monuments and new developments.

Downtown Entertainment Walking Tour/ 4p.m. – 6p.m. / $10
Inside Detroit guides will lead individuals on a two hour walking tour to show participants where they can hang out in the city. They will visit some of downtown Detroit’s more than 120 bars and restaurants; historic theatres, three sports stadiums, plus so much more.

(Re)Discover Detroit Bar Tour / 8p.m. – 12a.m. / $20
Inside Detroit will visit several bars. Participants will receive educational information about the city in-between stops at establishments; exclusive drink specials; and personal introductions to the owners, the bartenders, and downtown regulars.

Inside Detroit will wrap-up (Re)Discover Detroit Weekend with a Downtown Detroit Scavenger Hunt on Sunday, May 3 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Teams of up to four people will be given clues and they will have two hours to scour downtown to find the answers. Gift certificates will be awarded to the winners.

“As part of the scavenger hunt participants will be required to visit landmarks, restaurants, and places where public art exists,” said Pierce. “It doesn’t matter if someone has lived here their whole life or just arrived, they will discover Detroit like never before during the hunt. It will be a fun way for people to learn more about the city of Detroit’s rich history and culture.”

Cost per person is $10.00 which includes clue and answer sheets, maps, pens, fact sheets and gift certificates for the first and second place team.
