Following successful shows in both downtown Royal Oak and Mt Clemens, this May
(Saturday, May 16th. From 8pm to 4am to be exact), The Mati Group takes their live art act
down to Detroit. Traditionally, Mati Group Art Battles are characterized by high energy live
art creation, great music, and great fun. While the shows have featured individual artists in
the past, this time, the challenge will be for teams of 3 to 8 people to create large themed
murals inside a 10,000 square foot studio. With only five hours to work with and a large
crowd rooting the groups on the atmosphere promises to be electric. The theme for this
show is ‘Urban Agriculture’ and was specially selected by the Host: Indiedibles
(www.indiedibles.com). Indiedibles is an online web resource focused on promoting local
Detroit food and farms via the Internet and its Russell Industrial Center space.
In addition, the music throughout the evening promises to be something extra special.
Planned guests include the live jazz band: The Recovery Band, as well as dj sets from both,
Healthy Chef and DJ Extraordinaire: B. Hill, and Detroit Sensation ‘Funk Night’ DJ: Frank
Raines (aka the Soul Controller).
The admission cost is $10 (ten dollars) at the door. The event will be 18 and over only
with all attendees getting to cast their vote on the overall winners.
Where: The Russell Industrial Center (Indiedibles Studio), Detroit
When: 8:00PM-4:00AM
Tix: $10.00
