MTV hit-makers Sponge will headline TNT’s on Saturday May 30. Doors are at 8:00 p.m.; advance tickets are $10, and ages 18 and over are welcome to attend. Local rockers No Resolve, Ballz Deluxe and Stellar Drive open the show, which is sponsored by 89x.
Hailing from Detroit, Sponge gained international notoriety with their debut album “Rotting Piñata.” Hits like “Plowed” and “Molly (16 Candles)” fueled massive airplay on radio stations from coast to coast and were in heavy rotation on MTV. After “Rotting Piñata” went Gold, the band toured internationally, sharing the stage with Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and more recently, Iggy Pop and Nickelback. Sponge’s follow up CD, the critically lauded “Wax Ecstatic,” includes the hit songs “Wax Ecstatic” and “Have You Seen Mary?”
Now touring in support of their latest CD “Galore Galore,” (Icon/Bellum), Sponge continues to stand out as one of rock’s most charismatic live acts. Sponge front man Vinnie Dombroski’s powerful voice, heart-on-his- sleeve lyrics and full throttle stage presence captivates any audience he steps in front of.
