Let your mind wander through the visual narratives of 14 artists in the Anton Art Center’s upcoming exhibition, “Invented Memories”, opening July 10, 2009.
Installation artist Bridget Byers of Louisville, Kentucky, creates storybook scenes with ceramic molds reminiscent of old toys, figurines and assorted tchotchkes.
Marla Karimipour of Bloomfield Hills reinvents the meaning of home with her paintings of picturesque rural landscapes from a distant perspective.
Whether dealing with fantasy or reality, the works included in the exhibition evoke a strong sense of nostalgia.
Other artists include Kristin Beaver, Claudia Berlinski, Renee Bernier, Christiana Caro, Wendy Deschene, Seth Farnack, Monkia Malewska, Katie Martineau-Caron, Eric McDade, Scott Michalski, Sarah Trahan and Paula Wild.
There will be an opening reception Friday, July 10, from 6-9 pm, featuring an outdoor aerial yoga performance by the Detroit Fly House. The reception is free and open to the public.
Invented Memories will be on exhibit July 10 through August 15, 2009.
