BBAC: Unleash Your Creativity At Summer Sundays

There are only so many weekends in a summer, and the next four offer the chance to break out of one’s routine and have some creative fun. During Sundays @ the Center, the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center is open with free exhibits and the distinctive Studio 1 Drop-In Workshops where creativity gets unleashed.

On Sundays between July 12 and August 2, Studio 1 Drop-In Workshops are at the BBAC, located at 1516 S. Cranbrook Rd. (Evergreen Rd.), Birmingham, MI 48009 between 14 and 15 Mile Roads.  More information is available by calling (248) 644-0866, or BBArtCenter.org

There is a $5 per person fee for Studio 1 Drop In Workshops and all materials are provided. Children under 4 are admitted free. Activities are appropriate for all ages – Not just for kids!  Children 12 & under must be accompanied by an adult.  BBAC members at Community level ($100) & above receive 12 complimentary individual admissions.

Sundays @ the Center activities this summer include the following workshops.

JULY 12 – BAGS & BANDANAS
Design, paint & embellish a tote bag or bandana.

JULY 19 – HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EDGAR!
Celebrate the birthday of Edgar Degas by drawing real ballet dancers stationed throughout the BBAC campus.  Degas is “regarded as one of the founders of impressionism although he rejected the term & preferred to be called a realist.”  He is well known for his drawings & paintings of ballerinas.

JULY 26 – SUMINAGASI
Create your own decorative papers using the oldest form of marbling.

AUGUST 2 – BEADING
With the Great Lakes Bead Guild show in the Kantgias/DeSalle Gallery, this workshop offers a variety of beading projects.

NOTE: The Sunday Drop-In Workshops will be on vacation until September 13, 2009. They will return each Sunday thereafter.

The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center is a regional non-profit art center committed to promoting the visual arts with classes for all skill levels. Each year they offer 500 classes for 4,000 students including year round classes and art camps. The BBAC campus features nine classroom studios, four galleries with free exhibits open to the public, art camps, special events, and a retail gallery shop.
