Metrotimes Debuts Sloshed Beer
The official Metro Times beer will make its debut at the inaugural
Harvest Fest in Eastern Market this Saturday, October 24, 2009. The
beer’s official title, Sloshed, is a tribute to the Metro Times
Sloshed July special issue which featured coverage of local and
statewide breweries. Along with Sloshed beer, 200 Michigan beers from
40 microbreweries will be available for sample.
Sloshed beer is modeled after Atwater Block Brewery’s Blöcktoberfest
beer. The beer will follow in traditional Oktoberfest style and will
be brewed with 100% German malt. Sloshed beer is 6.3 percent alcohol
by volume and will be available to sample at Harvest Fest.
“We won two Great American Beer Festival medals with this (type of)
beer” Mark Rieth, Atwater brewery, said. “It is a Marzen which is
March in German because that is when the brew is made and conditioned
until it is released to celebrate the Harvest in the fall.”
The launch of Sloshed Beer comes at a time when the Metro Times will
be celebrating its 30th anniversary next year with over 330,000 weekly
readers. Metro Times has been Detroit’s weekly alternative source for
news, arts, culture, music, film, food, fashion, and now, beer.
Hours for Harvest Fest are from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine. Food
will be available for purchase. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the
door. Tickets can be purchased through www.metrotimes.com/harvestfest.
