The WSU Studio Theatre will open its season with Lanford Wilson’s Serenading Louie – a play that provides patrons with a sweet serenade and a harsh slap back to reality. Performances will take place October 22-24 at 8 p.m. and October 28-31 at 8 p.m. in the Studio Theatre.

Serenading Louie tells the tale of two married couples in the 1970s dealing with the difficulties in their relationships. Never having moved far from their alma mater, the idea of “how it used to be” permeates their days and their lives. Never giving his characters a break as they try to become the adults they need to be, Wilson takes the story to a disastrous end.

Directed by second-year WSU PhD candidate Greg Bailey, the show marks his second return to the Studio Stage director’s chair. Bringing in-depth text analysis and real-world experience to the table, Bailey directs his cast with the know-how of a pro.

The cast of Serenading Louie includes Patrick Loos, (Alex/Highland, MI), Samantha Moltmaker (Gabrielle/ Harrison Twp., MI), Caitlin Morrison (Mary/ Romeo, MI) and Ted Neda (Carl/ St. Clair Shores, MI).

The production team includes Alexandre Bleau as Stage Manager (Montreal, Quebec), Kerianne Furgerson as Assistant Director (Dearborn), Adam Crinson as Scenic Designer (Sterling Heights), Madeline Lindsey Greenwalt as Costume Designer (Rochester Hills), Katy O’Brien as Props Coordinator (St. Clair) and Wendy Wojciechowski as Lighting Designer (Garden City).

Serenading Louie plays at the Studio Theatre October 22, 2009 to October 31, 2009. The Studio Theatre is located downstairs at the Hilberry Theatre at 4743 Cass Ave. in Detroit. Ticket prices range from $10-$12. Discounts are available.
