Free Holiday Movie Night Supporting Gleaners Food Bank

December 2, 2009
6:00 pm

Wednesday, December 2 from 6-10 p.m.

Emagine Novi

‘Tis the season for good will, good cheer, and good holiday movies. Metro Times presents Film-anthropy on Wed., Dec.02 from 6-10 p.m. at Emagine Novi for everyone living on a tight budget that would still like to spread holiday cheer.

For the first 1,000 people to bring five canned goods, they will receive free admission into Emagine Novi to see the first run movie of their choice. The average movie ticket price now runs over $7 per person. This is an opportunity for families to give back to the community, teach their children about giving and have a night out together during the holidays. All goods collected will be donated to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeast Michigan.

As one of the oldest food banks in the United States, Gleaners Community Food Bank turns surplus food, which otherwise would go to waste, into millions of nutritious meals for hungry people in southeastern Michigan. Since 1977, Gleaners Community Food Bank has grown from distributing just one or two million pounds of food a year to more than 28 million pounds annually, equivalent to over 404,000 meals per month.

Metro Times plans on turning film-anthropy into a biannual event in order to greater support the local community. Metro Times recommends that attendees arrive early as Film-anthropy is first-come, first-served. Metro Times also recommends donating quality canned goods that are not expired or will not expire within the upcoming months.
Emagine Theaters, including Novi, have a combined 10,000 seats and 56 screens. Emagine Novi is located at 44425 W. 12 Mile Road, Novi, 48377. For information about Emagine Theater and to find show times, visit www.emagine-entertainment.com.

  1. Hope Drogmiller and Hope’s Daddy give this wonderful group of people doing good in our community the big four thumbs up! Four thumbs up are better than two! What a night at Emagine Novi and meeting the nice group of friendly, smiling faces that belonged to the metro times staff and emagine. We had the opportunity of meeting many nice people doing great work. We even met the very busy Gleaners food bank driver. Hope was proud to be able to provide can goods to help out. We brought 15 can goods to help out. Hope’s Daddy came back at 10:30 p.m. for a free viewing of 2012, compliments of metro times, emagine and gleaners for our donation of can goods(not necessary, but appreciated, we appreciate quality entertainment and theatres) Hope’s Daddy gives 2012 four thumbs up! great job everyone, see you next year!
