UndercurrentsAn exhibition curated by CCA Instructor Cathy Barry, Co-Sponsored by the Huron River Watershed Council and the Legacy Land Conservancy.
Hydrology, The endless cycle of water — from sea to vapor to rain and ice and back to rivers, lakes and oceans — is the theme for this exhibition at the Chelsea Center for Arts (CCA). Co-sponsored by the Huron River Watershed Council (HRWC) and the Legacy Land Conservancy, the exhibit will explore humans’ relationship to water and to the natural cycles of the planet. Symbolizing purity, sustenance, tranquility, power, movement and continuity, water is a source of life as well as destruction and death. Its surface serves as a metaphor for self-reflection and contemplation. Humans rely on water and take it for granted. We revere it, pollute it, misuse it and fight over it. It is easily accessible and inexpensive to some while nearly out of reach to others.

“Precipitation” and “Undercurrents”, two stitched drawings on paper, by Dolores S. Slowinski
can be seen in Hydrology. The exhibition based on the science that deals with the qualities and occurrence of water in our environment. Slowinski refers to this new series as Thread Lines since she utilizes thread to create her images.
