Penny W. Stamps Distinguished Visitors Series: Robert & Shana ParkeHarrison
Robert & Shana ParkeHarrison : Intent
Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 5:10 pm
Michigan Theater, 603 E. Liberty
Photographers Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison continue to pursue, with absorbing psychological and sensory effect, the ever-bleakening relationship linking humans, technology, and nature. At once formally arresting and immeasurably loaded with sensations – the work has a powerful impact both visually and viscerally. The works feature an ambiguous narrative that offers equally compelling insight into the dilemma posed by science and technology’s failed promise to fix our problems, provide explanations, and furnish certainty pertaining to the human condition.
The ParkeHarrison’s Stamps lecture is complemented by an exhibition of their work in the School of Art & Design’s Slusser Gallery through November 13.
There will be an artists’ reception directly following the lecture, from 6:30 – 9:30 pm.
Slusser Gallery, 1st floor Art & Architecture Building, 2000 Bonisteel Blvd., Ann Arbor MI 48109
