MODALITY – A CCS Student Collaborative

MODALITY – A CCS Student Collaborative

December 18th 6-9pm, 2009 (One night only)
Russell Industrial Center: 3rd floor building 1,

The show consists of work by students from four classes at the College for Creative Studies. Soft Sculpture: focusing on the use of “soft” ideas, materials and processes, taught by Mira Burack; Carving: focused on techniques and methods of carving materials, taught by Chido Johnson; Advanced Drawing: focused on drawing as a way to get ideas out of your head and into the physical world taught by Mike Smith; and figure sculpture: focused on the human form and body, taught by Chido Johnson.

the collaboration of over 30 people houses many minds, and therefore does not rest in one place. this show moves, in the building and the people who created it:
Olivia Abrahamian, Kristie Agar, John Ballance, Kim Barsotti, Michelle Brehmer, Tom Burns, Melissa Byle, Chad Champnella, Jon Ciccarelli, Caitlin Delich, Natalie Eshep, Jeffrey Gottler, Melissa Haggard, Megan Jessup, Alysia Kowal, Camille LaMontagne, Brad Lawrence, Noel Ledesma, Aaron Marker, Elise Martin, Kevin McCoy, Michaela Mosher, Kyle Nestor, McKenna Northrop, Angela Pham, Mary Savage, Bailey Smith, Alice Schneider, Chelsea Shultz, Dan Steadman, Jordan Stohl, Kevin Tobin, Ruby Troyano, Herald Urena-Umana, and Lea Wulbrecht.

the room goes on for miles, really. truthfully feet and feet of concrete. and odd shaped pillars and medium sized doors. fluorescent tubes and mood lighting. worn windows and messy corners. it took a dusty hallway to get you here, now what are you going to see?”
