Art Auction Ends Monday, December 7 by 5 p.m.
George ClintonThe exhibit can be seen at the Arts League of Michigan’s(ALM) Virgil H. Carr Cultural Arts Center, 311 E. Grand River in Paradise Valley.
The collection stems from a collaboration between the ALM and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame And Museum, on an arts/black music history project, seven years ago. Ten African American artists from Detroit were commissioned to produce their individual visual interpretations of one of 9 genres of music; African Juju, Antebellum, Gospel, Blues, Jive Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Funk and Hip Hop, along with a signature piece that would represent the entire project. The artists’ creativity resulted in the 21 insightful pieces of art that make up the exhibition which has been seen by more than a million people in the U.S. and in Canada.
The public can purchase any of the pieces in the exhibition exclusively through the ALM auction. The guidelines for the bidding process and bid forms can be found at www.artsleague.com, along with images of the art. The deadline for the receipt of all bids is Monday, December 7 by 5 p.m.
To take in the full breadth and depth of the art, visit the Carr Center where the art will be on display until December 7th. Admission is free. Parking is convenient.
