This annual juried competition has been one of the most popular of the Lawrence Street Gallery events, to patrons and artists alike.  Juror Lucille Nawara reviewed over 175 works from 95 artists and students all over the Metro-Detroit area. Ms. Nawara said, “…I chose works that were light-hearted, others that were mysterious and profound.”  The theme of the exhibition is the human figure, in all its attitudes and dimensions.  The exhibition includes clothed and nude figures, portraiture, abstractions and more in a variety of two and three dimensional media.

Michael Reedy of Ann Arbor received the grand prize for his graphite work, “Super Me”, and also received an Honorable Mention for his other submission, “Libby (Momentarily)”.  Joan Miller of Ann Arbor received a second place award for her graphite work, “Hands Over Time”.  Third Place was shared by Tom Walkush of Troy for his oil painting “Spirit of Detroit” and Ani Garabedian of Royal Oak for her oil, “Hrmph”.
