Lawrence Street Gallery presents their fourteenth annual photography exhibit, a juried show expected to draw submissions from approximately 100 area photographers. Exhibited works will include 35mm black/white and color, digital, and enhanced/experimental images. Visitors to the show will see photos of great beauty as well as the humorous, political, and those that push the limits of the medium.
Hugh Grannum, the juror for this show, retired from a career as a staff photographer at the Detroit Free Press after thirty-seven years as a prolific image-maker. He has taught at several area colleges, and his work has been exhibited internationally and nationally in venues such as The Studio Museum of Harlem, New York; Toyota, Japan; Toronto Art Gallery and the Detroit Institute of Arts. Grannum has received many awards including an Emmy in Broadcast Journalism as a still photographer and awards from the Michigan Council for the Arts and the National Press Photographers Association.
Visitors at the opening on April 9 will enjoy refreshments while meeting many of the photographers in the show and viewing the awards presentation.
Gallery Hours are Wed, Thurs & Sat, noon – 5, Fri, noon – 9
