The picture of the beheading of John the Baptist is great. I’ve been thinking of that sort of modern interpretation of religious art for some time.
The renaissance and baroque painters thought nothing of painting religious scenes brought into their time. Why shouldn’t we do the same?
I’d like to see an arrest of Christ where the soldiers who arrest Him are riot- or swat-police. Or perhaps a crucifixion in a 21st century setting.
