Preview Party on Friday, May 14, 2010 – 6:30 – 9:00 pm.

In collaboration with Grosse Pointe South High School’s Art Fest, the Grosse Pointe Art Center sponsored 9 awards for the Fest. The GPAC Director, 2 Board members and a long standing member of the organization served as jurors for the Fest. First Place awards went to; Hannah Ploechl for her ceramic “Vitamin C”, Haley Grant for her drawing “impossible”, Kelsey Horn for her painting “Self-portrait”, Erin Melville for her fibers “The Giving Tree”, Hunter Hughes for his metals “Armadillo”, Emily Cirocco for her photo “Elation”, Jeremy Munsterman for his computer graphics “Frog 2” and Melissa Bryan for her sculpture “The Vulnerability of Affection”. Melissa, also, was awarded “Best of Show” by the GPAC and received a One Woman Show in the Art Center. Her work was hung on April 17th and will remain in the Grosse Pointe Art Center until Saturday, May 1st. Gallery hours are 12 noon – 6 pm, Tuesday – Saturday. Please visit the Art Center to see this outstanding student’s work and catch the tail end of the Green Show. The GPAC’s next exhibition will be the 72nd Annual Member’s Show with a Preview Party on Friday, May 14th at 6:30 – 9:00 pm.
The Grosse Pointe Art Center supports artistic interest and talent in the visual, literary and performing arts and provides a venue for the community to share in these creative experiences. From modest beginnings in 1927, GPAC today stages exhibitions, competitions and concerts, and conducts classes, lectures and workshops for children and adults. The GPAC Gallery Gift Shop offers a wide variety of original works by established and emerging local, national and international artists.
