News for Artists

Calls for artists! (Addendum)

Well, I guess a list of 10 places to submit your art aren’t enough for the number of opportunities there really are!

11.

The Burton Theater

House of Raw invites artists to submit proposals for a unique exhibition opportunity at the Burton Theatre. The large stairwell and landing, as well as the lower level are up for grabs. Show duration averages two months, and will include an opening reception. We are open to all forms of media, however we are particularly interested in installation based work. The Burton Theatre is Detroit’s only independent film theatre which attracts a distinctly diverse crowd. Our goal is to cross pollinate the world of film and art.

Please forward all inquiries and proposals to designvamp@gmail.com

Paint Creek Center for the Arts

Here’s part of the call for entries: PCCA invites Michigan artists to submit original dolls, toys
and games for a playful exhibit. Submissions will be juried by PCCA’s Exhibition
Committee.

ELIGIBILITY
This exhibit is open to all Michigan artists ages 18 or older. Each artist may enter up to
five pieces for a $20 entry fee. Works may be 2-D or 3-D, in any medium, as long as they
fit the categories of games, toys or dolls. Large works will be considered, subject to space
limitations. This show will be interactive as much as possible, so artists should submit
works that can accept a certain amount of gentle handling (for example, board games that
can be played; dolls and toys that can be picked up.)

Entry Deadline: March 5th, 2011

13.

Scarab Club’s Silver Medal Exhibition

Juror: Christine Hagedorn
Deadline: December 15th! 5 pm
Questions: tericson@scarabclub.org

That’s it… for now…
If you have any calls for artists you’d like to add, or if you would be interested in helping out with thedetroiter.com do let us know in the comments!

  2. As for artists sending submissions, yes they can send them my way: ann@thepopstudio.com

We are actually just in the planning stages for our next few shows – we are a little different than a traditional gallery space but would like to do some great shows/installations/collaboratives in the future. Upstairs we do creative fashion brand engineering/concept. So basically we work with clients and “critique” their line and also produce lines for big companies. Total fun! But downstairs it the open space, we have started up gallery shows. They are a little less rigid, more like a fun art party and all the money goes to the artist.
