People make mistakes. If an individual has a criminal record, she may have a difficult time getting a job, finding housing, and securing credit. This is true even if that individual has only one conviction, and even if that individual has demonstrated that she has been rehabilitated. LADA partners with pro bono private attorneys to provide assistance to indigent individuals in expunging their criminal records.

Often during the most difficult times in their lives, people need lawyers. The problem is that the people who often need lawyers the most cannot afford a lawyer. The criminal expungement program above is just one of the many programs where LADA facilitates and actively participates to bring legal services to the more that 600,000 low and moderate income people in Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties. It has helped the poor since 1909.
