Congrats to DSO — Record Opening Sales

Congrats to DSO — Record Opening Sales

Detroit, Mich. August 28, 2012 – The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) has calculated that Monday, August 27, 2012, its first day of single ticket sales for the 2012-13 season, was the highest-grossing opening sales day in the history of the Max M. Fisher Music Center.

Yesterday also marked the inauguration of the DSO’s new online box office at dso.org. This streamlined, user friendly interface pushed online sales to two-thirds of overall purchases for the day–an institutional record. In the coming weeks, the DSO will also offer ticketing capabilities through “DSO to go,” the Orchestra’s free mobile app.

Opening Weekend with Joshua Bell (Sept. 28-30), Cirque de la Symphonie (Oct. 5-7) and Home for the Holidays (Dec. 21-23) were especially popular.
