October 23, 2009

12:00 pm

Digital Release Party and Live Show at St. Andrew’s Hall on Oct. 23, 2009

Detroit rapper Hush returns to St. Andrew Andrews Hall for his first show there in over 8 years to celebrate the release of “The Open Book” – a 12-track opus now available on iTunes. Doors are at 9 pm and ages 18 and over are welcome. Tickets are $10 and available at the door. Opening for Hush are Quest Mcody, who appeared inVibe’s “Top 51 Unsigned Artists” and on MTV’s popular “Made” show, up and coming rap infused rockers, The Definition and 2007 89x’s “I’m With the Band” contest winners Band with No Name. Zodiac Vodka and On the Rocks Detroit sponsor the show.

2005’s “Bulletproof” on Geffen Records garnered Hush national attention with features in Maxim, and songs and appearances on NBC’s “The Contender,” Spike TV’s “Murder,” the movie “XXX-2 State of the Union” and video games “Need for Speed Most Wanted” and “Incredible Hulk.”

Now an independent artist, “The Open Book” is Hush’s follow up to “Bulletproof” and showcases Hush in his rawest form. Explains Hush, “It’s a therapeutic release…an open book into my thoughts of where I have been and what’s going on in the world.”

In the 90’s Hush cut his teeth at St. Andrew’s Hall in the group Da Ruckus with his then partner Uncle Ill. During that time Hush shared the stage with many of Detroit’s legendary rappers including Eminem, D-12, J Dilla & Slum Village as well as national artists Ja RUle, Mos Def & Talib Kweli. Now, years later Hush returns to St. Andrews Hall to perform as a solo headliner backed by his seven piece live band. The show is especially meaningful for him, “I believe in the City of Detroit. I was born and raised in the City and it’s time to bring it back to my roots. I want to make them and Detroit proud.”

Presenting the show are Zodiac Vodka and On the Rocks Detroit. Zodiac Vodka is an American-made luxury potato vodka. Detroit’s hottest event marketing company On the Rocks Detroit create/host/and promote events “That ROCK!”

St. Andrew’s Hall is located at 431 E. Congress in downtown Detroit. For ticket and additional show info please call the venue at 313-961-8137.
