JAN. 29th & JAN 30, 2010

Over 20 Detroit bands have come together to raise money for victims of the Haitian earthquake. Detroit Rocks For Haiti takes place on Friday, January 29th and Saturday, January 30th at the Magic Stick in Detroit.

Papa Joe Zainea (co-owner of the Majestic Theatre Center) approached retired Detroit Bishop Thomas Gumbleton and asked if there was a way the Majestic could help. Bishop Gumbleton was instrumental in starting a clinic in Port Au Prince three years ago called Klinik Sen Michel. The Bishop is taking a group down to Haiti at the end of January to provide medical assistance to the many earthquake victims.

Doors for the event open at 8pm each night and music starts promptly at 8:30pm. The minimum donation for each night of the benefit is $8 but larger donations will be accepted.

For those that can’t make it down to the event, there is information on how to make a contribution on Bishop Gumbleton’s website: www.bishopgumbleton.org.

Net proceeds from the event will help Bishop Gumbleton purchase medical supplies to take with his team to Klinik Sen Michel – bandages, analgesics, antibiotics, ointments, antiseptics, etc.

Showtime Clothing, outfitter of Detroit rockers, musicians and hipsters since 1989, is hosting a fabulously free 20th Anniversary party on Friday, June 19 at the Hastings Street Ballroom (715 E. Milwaukee, Detroit/Ph: 313-887-4377). Doors are at 8 p.m., and ages 18+ are welcome to attend. Deviant electro rockers Crud headline, along with a special appearance by Motown legends The Contours. With three stages of live music, a Showtime Clothing fashion show, complimentary BBQ, and giveaways by Showtime Detroit, Made in Detroit, Schott Leather, Scully Western Wear, Shrine, Lucky Monkey Tattoo and more – this will be THE rock n roll party of the year! Presented by Zodiac Vodka, Made in Detroit and On the Rocks Detroit, free tickets for this event are ONLY available at Showtime Clothing (located at 5708 Woodward) in Detroit.

Electro rock provocateurs Crud will headline their first FREE show ever (hence the “stimulus”), and locally for the first time in Detroit since October 2008. Crud’s long awaited live performance also features the world premiere of their new music video “Do Ya Wanna Touch,” directed by Detroit Dungeon’s Jimi Custer (Stroknfold.)

Best known for their top 20 hit “Do You Love Me,” Motown soul group The Contours make a very rare special appearance in honor of Showtime Clothing, who also dress this stylish act.

The Hastings Street Ballroom will rock with three stages of bands handpicked by Showtime Dan. The night will be a spotlight showcase of Showtime Clothing’s many fashionable customers, including Ante M, Bixy Lutz, DJ Ben Beverly, Ely Kelly, Ingray, Jiva, Michael Turner, Robbie Nine, and Saturnine Hello.

And if that wasn’t enough – Showtime Clothing will also present a “Best Rock Star Clothing Attire Award” – so dress to impress! The winner will be featured in an upcoming Showtime Clothing ad in the Metro Times.

Showtime Clothing’s 20th Anniversary Party is sponsored by Zodiac Vodka, Product of Detroit, Motor City Blog, Metro Times, Made In Detroit, On the Rocks Detroit, and The Label Network.
