Their Beginning: Ric Geyer and wife Carey bought the four-story building at 4731 Grand River in the summer of 2000 and 18 months later he says it began filling up with “angry young urban artists. And then, it began to morph into something else.”
Hours and Location: 4731 Grand River, Detroit, MI 48208
Gallery Hours: Noon-6 p.m. Wed. & Fri., noon-8 p.m. Thu., 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat.
Mission Statement: it has become known as a center for creative thought, for youthful expression, for community events, for sharing commissions, for excellent Jamaican jerk chicken dinners on Friday nights and for the establishment of an arts community on the near west side of the city. It is an arts incubator where artists can work together to achieve common goals, where services and knowledge are provided that assist in the development of and business of being an artist. It is also becoming known as a space that accommodates young, independent promoters and shares the risk with them as they flex their creative muscles.

Something Different: “Our project is based on four key ideals: Inclusion and collaboration are always good things, Creativity increases exponentially as the diversity of the group increases geometrically, “For-profit” is not a bad word, “There is a strong marketing model running around here somewhere”
