Their Beginning: The Arts League of Michigan (ALM) was formed in 1991 by a group of dedicated artists and arts enthusiasts with a passion for artistic disciplines and cultural expressions. For several years, The Arts League managed a performing and visual arts touring program showcasing Michigan minority artists in communities throughout the State.
Engaged in a three-year capital campaign, the Arts League is committed to develop a cultural arts center in Detroit. The Virgil H. Carr Cultural Arts Center will be more than a building, but a strong institution built on a solid foundation. Thousands of new “friends” will be encouraged to become members of the Arts League organization.
