Their Beginning: The Buckham Fine Arts Project was founded in late 1983 and early 1984 by a group of Flint area artists who saw the need for an exhibition and performance venue in Flint that would direct its creative attention to presenting ambitious work on a major scale for the arts public.

Mission Statement: To inform and educate the public by bringing it experimental art and ambitious art of a high standard of quality in a variety of media, both visual and non-visual.
To actively encourage artists who are making unique and significant statements in their chosen disciplines by providing an exciting environment (physical as well as spiritual) in which to display or perform their work.

Something Different: Buckham gallery in the early years brought in Allen Ginsberg and Dennis Oppenheim. It produced “Duets”, pairs of leading artists from around the region. Their shows usually contain 3-5 artists whose work fit thematically.
