College for Creative Studies Center Galleries

Their Beginning:
Founded in 1988, Center Galleries is dedicated to exploring the relationship between culture and artistic practice, fostering intellectual inquiry, and creating multidisciplinary exhibitions and educational programming that enable diverse audiences to connect art experiences to everyday life.

Mission Statement:
CCS’ Center Galleries, a dynamic forum for contemporary visual, literary and performance art and design, is an integral component of the College for Creative Studies, and a mainstay of the Detroit art community.

Something Different:
With nearly 6,000 square feet of exhibition space, Center Galleries presents the work of local, national, and international artists, as well as that of CCS faculty, alumni and students, in four galleries including the Main Gallery, U245, the student-run gallery, Alumni & Faculty Hall, a space designated for regularly scheduled exhibitions of work by alumni and faculty, and the College’s Permanent Collection Gallery.
