The Glass Academy, a proprietary Michigan trade school, will present a variety of demonstrations in glass blowing, neon, lampworking and stained glass.
In June 2005, the Glass Academy moved into its current spacious 14,000 square foot facility, which formerly housed a machine shop. The school was started two years ago in Detroit. “Our new location gives us ample room for student classes with a metal working area, several benches for glass blowing, storage and tool rooms, a loading dock and space for a gallery and offices,” said Michelle Plucinsky. “We’re fortunate to have excellent classroom instructors who are recognized locally and internationally for their technical and design expertise,” said Chris Nordin instructor and co-owner
The school also includes state-of-the-art equipment, tools, a student lounge and dining area and secure parking. Classes are available from Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. with class sizes limited to eight to 12 students, depending on the course of study. Participating students must be at least 18 years of age.
