Their Beginning: For more than 40 years, the Oakland University Art Gallery (OUAG), formerly known as Meadow Brook Art Gallery, has delivered diverse, museum-quality art to the metro Detroit area. From September to May, the OUAG presents six different exhibitions – anything from Russian icons to Native American art to cutting-edge art produced by breakthrough Michigan artists. The gallery also offers lectures, performances, tours, special events and more.

The OUAG is open every day, except Mondays, from noon to 5 p.m. It also is open evenings during Meadow Brook Theatre performances. All exhibitions are free of charge.

Mission Statement: Emphasizing excellence, Oakland University Art Gallery is dedicated to the enrichment of the individual through the intellectual and emotional enjoyment of the visual arts.
With a primary focus on contemporary Michigan visual art and a secondary focus on encyclopedic exhibitions exploring historical, ethnographic and decorative art, the OUAG is committed to creating a dynamic educative program of exhibitions and special events such as lectures, symposia and performances.
