The Rationals were one of the first Detroit area bands to get their music played on the radio in the late 1960’s, kicking the door open for Bob Seger, The MC5 and The Stooges to burst through. The band’s mix of Beatles-esque harmonies and soul influences have made their records some of the most sought after and hard to find in the Motorcity… that is until now! Scott Morgan and his band (Matt Smith, Jim Diamond, Dave Shettler & Chris Taylor ) celebrate the release of their brand new 2 CD anthology “Think Rational” with a rockin’ soulful trip down memory lane. The CD was produced by Alec Palao who also produced Rhino’s Nuggets box sets. As a special treat the Howling Diablos and the Space Heaters kick off the show!

The legendary Detroit pop-punkers are getting together for a very special reunion show at the Bag. Coldock’s “I Wanna Be Rich” 45 is one of the most highly collectable records in town. The band was so hot that Stewart Copeland of the Police still raves about the gig that they played with them. Gorevette (featuring Nikki Corvette and Amy Gore of the Gore Gore Girls) and the Chet Offensive open the show.

It Came From Detroit is the ultimate fan’s look at the city’s internationally renowned “garage rock” scene. Produced over five years, the documentary chronicles the scene before and after the spotlight that came to town as the White Stripes rose to fame.

Starting with the hugely influential band The Gories in the 1980s, the bands of the garage scene are known for two things: an impeccable knowledge of the history of rock and roll and a raucous live show. It Came From Detroit documents the evolution of the scene from underground obscurity to an international trend. As bands such as the White Stripes, The Von Bondies, and the Electric Six started to develop a following overseas, journalists around the world started to hype Detroit as “The Next Seattle”.

We discover how unexpected popularity impacts the musician’s lives as more and more bands sign to major labels and tour the world and find out what happens to the small group of friends when not everyone has the same opportunities.

Underneath the crumbling shell of Detroit there is a pulse, and a community of passionate musicians that dug back into the roots of rock and roll and made it relevant again.
